TMZ revealed that Wayne Brady’s vehicle was struck by a drunk driver in Los Angeles on Sunday night, leading to a heated confrontation between the two parties.
Confirming the incident, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department informed PEOPLE that an intense argument ensued between the drivers, eventually spiraling into a physical fight when they stopped to exchange information.
Sources close to Brady expressed his distress over the incident involving a drunk driver, highlighting his relief that neither his daughter nor any other child was involved.
They shared his concerns about the potential consequences had it been his daughter in that situation.
Allegedly, Brady took charge and called 911. Subsequently, the other driver was arrested on charges of hit and run, battery, and driving under the influence.
Despite the altercation, Brady did not require medical attention but opted to file battery charges.
Meanwhile, despite this unfortunate event, Brady is gearing up for his role as The Wizard in the upcoming Broadway-bound musical, “The Wiz,” expressing his enthusiasm to return to the Broadway stage.
Set to premiere in New York City next year, the production features a talented cast including Nichelle Lewis as Dorothy, Alan Mingo Jr. as the Wiz, Deborah Cox as Glinda, Kyle Ramar Freeman as the Lion, Phillip Johnson Richardson as the Tin Man, and Avery Wilson as the Scarecrow.
“The Wiz” is scheduled to make its Broadway debut on April 17, 2024.
