Renowned hip-hop artist Nines, recognized as the best hip hop act at the 2020 Mobo Awards, faces legal trouble following accusations of involvement in cannabis supply and possession of a Class B drug, specifically marijuana, at Heathrow Airport.
The 33-year-old rapper was arrested and subsequently charged. Although released on bail, Nines is slated to make an appearance at Kingston Crown Court on December 15th to address these charges.
Confirming the incident, the Metropolitan Police disclosed that the artist was apprehended on November 15th at Heathrow Airport.
This arrest follows the circulation of a video on social media depicting the rapper in handcuffs at the airport.
Originally hailing from Harlesden in North West London, Nines gained fame for his third chart-topping album, which notably clinched the album of the year position, surpassing artists like Stormzy, J Hus, Lianne La Havas, and Mahalia.
His remarkable success contrasts starkly with a challenging past marked by the tragic loss of his brother.
This legal development has cast a shadow over the rapper’s career, one that has been marked by significant musical achievements and recognition within the hip-hop community.
