Ben Shapiro Is Upset Snow White Won’t Be Played By Someone The Actual Color Of Snow

The latest controversy stirred up by Ben Shapiro revolves around the choice of a Latina actor, Rachel Zegler, to portray the iconic character of Snow White in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the beloved fairy tale.

Zegler, known for her role as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” remake, hails from a Colombian and Polish background.

Unofficial photos from the film set, recently published were enough to send the far-right podcast host into a frenzy. Shapiro wasted no time in voicing his disapproval.

“Rachel Zegler has been cast as Snow White. Yes, you heard that right,” Shapiro declared. “Now, Rachel Zegler, as you might gather from her name, is playing Snow White. I know that might sound racist to some, but let’s not forget that Snow White is the actual name of the fairy tale.”

Shapiro pointed out that in the original 1937 film, the character of Snow White is explicitly described as having “skin white as snow.” Thus, he accused Disney of deliberately provoking controversy by casting Zegler in the role.

“The word ‘white’ is literally part of her name. That’s why she’s called Snow White,” he emphasized. “So, I suppose they’re just messing with people’s heads by casting someone like Rachel Zegler, who is undeniably talented. It’s an uncommon choice, you might say.” (Zegler’s casting was announced over two years ago.)

For her part, Zegler has previously stated that she identifies as a white Latina.

Since Snow White is a fictional character, she was unable to comment on the matter. However, Twitter users took to the platform to express their opinions, generating a substantial amount of conversation surrounding the controversy.

Shapiro wasn’t the only conservative trying to gin up controversy over the upcoming children’s film. His Daily Wire colleague Matt Walsh also tried to throw out some red meat against “Snow White,” claiming that Zegler’s casting amounts to “anti-white racism.”

He, too, was ridiculed.
